How Teeth Whitening Kits Work

We custom-make a lightweight plastic mouth tray for you that fits snugly over your teeth. You then put the whitening gel provided inside the tray and wear it at night or for a few hours during the day. Results are normally seen over a 3-4 week period for your teeth to appear whiter and brighter. It is normal to experience some tooth sensitivity

Choosing Your Shade

We will use a colour chart to help you choose your tooth colour and this will take place during your initial consultation in which we will assess your teeth and gums suitable for treatment.

Reusable Mouth Trays

Over time the effects of teeth whitening will wear off. Expect the results to last up to a year, but this will depend upon a combination of factors such as oral healthcare and consumption of beverages such as tea and coffee.

The great news is that your mouth trays can be used again meaning you only need to visit us for the teeth whitening solutions.

Teeth Whitening Kits Frequently Asked Questions

Teeth whitening is typically safe for most people over the age of 18. However, it is important to consult a dentist first before beginning any type of teeth whitening treatment in order to ensure safety and assess the current state of one's dental health. People with certain conditions, such as pregnant women and those with sensitive teeth or gums, may be advised to avoid whitening treatments. Additionally, children under the age of 18 should not use teeth whitening kits without consulting a dentist first.

The most common side effects of teeth whitening are temporary tooth sensitivity and gum irritation. Additionally, some people may experience minor discomfort or a stinging sensation while the bleach is on their teeth. These side effects are usually mild and should resolve once the treatment is finished. To reduce the chance of experiencing any negative reactions, it is important to follow directions from your dentist.

Crowns and dentures cannot be whitened with teeth whitening trays or bleaching agents, as it will not change the color of these materials. However, veneers can usually be safely whitened in order to match the shade of your natural teeth. It is best to speak with your dentist before beginning any type of whitening treatment to ensure that it is safe and effective. In some cases, your dentist may be able to offer alternative solutions for other dental work such as crowns or dentures in order to achieve the desired effect.

Naturally, results will differ from person to person, but most suitable candidates can expect their teeth to improve anywhere between 6 to 12 shades.

When used properly, dentist prescribed teeth whitening kits will not cause any harm to your teeth. However, it is important to follow instructions from the dentist in order to ensure safety and maximise results. Additionally, over-the-counter whitening products can be harmful if they are not used correctly or contain ingredients that could damage the enamel of the teeth. It is best to consult a dentist before beginning any type of whitening treatment in order to ensure safety and minimise the risk of damaging your teeth.

Once you have completed a teeth whitening treatment, it is important to practice good oral hygiene habits in order to protect the results. This includes brushing and flossing regularly, as well as avoiding food and drinks that can stain your teeth such as coffee or red wine. Additionally, using a whitening toothpaste or mouthwash can help maintain the results of your teeth whitening kit. It is also important to schedule regular checkups with your dentist in order to keep track of any changes in the color or condition of your teeth.
